Celebrity Jeopardy

By: Michael Mancuso

December seventh, nineteen ninety-six a day that will live in Saturday Night Live history. The first ever set of Celebrity Jeopardy starring the iconic actor and comedian Will Ferrell debuted and pioneered one of the most popular series of America’s favorite late night show. Now, in two thousand seventeen, Saturday Night Live will introduce the sixteenth edition of the extremely successful series. Saturday Night Live legend, Will Ferrell, returns to the SNL screen as the otherwise mild-tempered, well-mannered Canadian idol and host of Jeopardy, Alex Trebek. In this skit, lasting about ten minutes, Alex Trebek struggles to maintain his wits as he grows in anger and frustration having to deal with some of the most unique and flamboyant personalities this country has to offer. First, there is the White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, played by Melissa Mccarthy, who illustrates his aggressive behavior towards audiences and his presumptuous manner of chewing gum. The next contestant is, Wayne Campbell, portrayed by Mike Myers, of SNL’s earlier series, Wayne’s World, and the spin off nineteen ninety-two film, Wayne’s World. Wayne Campbell is a happy go lucky contestant who seems a bit confused about how the game works and struggles to understand what exactly going on around him. Finally, Snoop Dogg appears as himself as the third contestant for the game and quickly appears as the most sane contestant until Alex Trebek finds out his devious charitable intentions. While this cast of characters may seem exciting already, prepare for more new twists and buckle up for this roller coaster ride as tempers flare and the host, Alex Trebek, is pushed close to the breaking point.

Ancestry Day by Bridget van Voorst

If you’re an avid fan of The Office then this newest episode in the series is a must watch. From Diversity Day to The Dinner Party, The Office never fails to make its audience laugh and cringe at the tension-ridden episodes. The uncomfortable one-liners from Michael and the absurd notions created by Dwight are still very apparent in this historical episode of The Office. The character’s backgrounds have been mentioned throughout the entirety of the show, ranging from the in-depth Schrute family tree to the untraceable identity of Creed, and all of this comes to light in this episode.
Several prior beliefs of the character’s pasts are challenged in this episode, with hilarious twists and turns. Dwight’s heritage is questioned,Michael’s is brought to light, Ryan tries to hide his results for fear of complicating things with another co-worker, will the team survive this hysterical roller coaster?
The voice and tone of the office are very important to the overall viewing experience of The Office. With a loyal fan base that becomes attached to every character, it is a challenge to keep with the same feel of the show. Every character is a piece of a machine that makes the show function, this episode accomplished the same projection of the show- as if it were written by Mindy Kaling or B.J. Novak themselves. Ancestry day will be an enjoyable experience for any fan of The Office, rich with humor and perfectly accented with awkward moments and ridiculous occurrences.

"The Chalice: A Journey Begins" by Zach Herbert

'The Chalice: A Journey Begins' is a two part short movie.  This being part one, obviously, gives the background of our heroes and their tragic past.  The two boys eventually meet a mystical old man, named Deemas played by Ian McKellen, and are brought upon an adventure to take down the evil Darth Warlock.  Who had taken not only the Chalice de Lightsaber, but the life of the boys', Falkor (played by Chris Hemsworth) and Fox's (played by Robbie Amell), mother.  But what Deemas didn't know was that the boys were never in it for the safety of all Space and the creatures who live in it, but for pure revenge of their mother.  The boys and Deemas have to find a way to take the Chalice from Darth Warlock and if that is not hard enough, they then have to travel across the galaxy to deliver to to Starship Gandalph to destroy it and it's powers for good.  Will they do it or will they all perish at the hands of Darth Warlock? Just watch and see for yourself.

The critics have been raving about this new series due to it's uniqueness from the use of both sic-fi and fantasy.  And because of that it will be attracting many varieties of people. Ranging from older ones who are attracted to the maturity of the fantasy/ middle-earth thing it has going for it.  And it will attract the younger generation with the special effects it will be using for the sic-fi portion of the film.  Not only will the type of movie get people to come but the actors in the movie will as well.  With leading role Chris Hemsworth as Falkor and Ian McKellen as Deemas, this short film will be attracting an audience from the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Thor and Magneto.  While this movie will not be hitting the theaters due to its lack of length in time, when it is on Demand in the summer, people will have to stop going to theaters just to watch this.

Ideal Cast
Chris Hemsworth - Falkor
Robbie Amell - Fox
Ian McKellen - Deemas
Heath Ledger - Darth Warlock
Steve Buscemi - Ludo
