3/27/17 - Michael Mancuso

Today in Film as Literature, we continued to watch some critical film reviews. First we watched a review by Joe who discussed some aspects of the TV show, Family Guy. Joe analyzed some scenes from various episodes of Family Guy and drew connections to the comedic effect and how it developed the dark humor. We also watched Amanda's review in which she analyzed the development of a relationship within the film, White House Down. In the review, Amanda discussed the relationship between Channing Tatum's character, John Cale, and his daughter, Emily providing clips from the movie that showed the change in tone that went along with the strength of the relationship. Also, we watched Bethann's review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. In the review, Bethann discussed the manner in which the director's editing techniques affected the mood and tone of several scenes throughout the film. For example, in one part of the review, she showed the changing in color and light within the scene that displayed a movement from good times into dark times when the pirates of the Black Pearl attacked Port Royal. We finished today's class by watching Jack's critical film review of The Wolf of Wall Street. Jack discussed the rise and fall of the main character, Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Along, his journey, Jordan misuses his wealth and gets mixed up with drugs which leads to his inopportune downfall.

Overall, today's critical film reviews all did a very good job of analyzing a certain aspect of their show or movie. Joe analyzed the how dark humor was created, Amanda analyzed the development of the relationship between two very prominent characters, Bethann analyzed the connection between directing techniques and mood, and finally, Jack analyzed the uprising and downfall of the main character. The reviews so far have been very informational, clear, and analytical and I look forward to to continuing our mini-film festival this week. As a reminder, remember to keep up with the reviews of each other student's film review and to write down who you think should be nominated for the "Best Picture" award.

Kirk Brown March 24th

Today due to Mr. Rivers being absent the Film festival did not continue today, but it will be continued on monday. In his stead we were told to do a reflection on our senior paper. Before doing that i took a quick five minutes to fix up my comments on the film festival page because i ended up forgetting or not finishing one of them.  After that i started to reflect on my paper. The first thing on the page says what you have learn from the senior paper as well as saying not to make it up and to be honest. So i was honest this is part of it:

Budgeting time works wonders and panic mode isn't always the best for papers like this. I did procrastinate but not the “wait for two days before” type but there was times where i could have used more time to work on things(but hey baby steps). So i learned that using time wisely is an much easier. Also something that really pertains to the paper was That sometimes more isn't better. I had 2 or three paragraphs  that were not only opinionated but repetitive, to fix this i either changed the paragraph or deleted it and worked  the information into a previous paragraph. It made me think differently about how movies can be analysed.

That is what i wrote and after that i moved onto the content reflection. We were given a rubric to grade ourselves-

After reading through my essay i didn't really have much time left but i do have an idea of what i would grade myself in and how i can get better in most areas.
The last part of the reflection was what do you think would help Mr. Rivers help future students. At the moment i don't have an answer completely but i said to begin was keep deadlines.

Mike Rossiter 3/24/17

In class today Mr.Rivers was not here. Instead of going over and watching the rest of the video reviews the class did something else. The class went back to the senior paper and did the reflection project. This is where the class would look over the senior paper and complete the assignment. For the assignment the class would look at the senior paper and decide which rubric best fit their senior paper. We then explained what we learned from the senior paper and what we liked about it. For my senior paper I liked learning more about the NFL Draft and learning new things about it. The NFL Draft and the NFL is more then just a game. Professional Sports are a business not just a game. For the reflection we would have to go over the content, organization, voice and style, research, and lastly the presentation. We would first explain what would go in a normal business paper or whatever lenses you had. We would then explain how our paper had those asspects and what we could improve if we had another chance to do this paper. To finish the day we explained how to help the seniors next year. The only thing I suggested to change was only to have the senior paper and have the we video another time.

Bridget van Voorst 3/23/17

Today in class, it was the fourth day of our film festival. From beginning to end the class was filled with the movies our class created. Again we made our “tweets” for each of the films, telling our classmates how we like the film or how it could use improvement. Seeing the films for the past few days has really shed light on how talented each student is. We all managed to create great videos with unfamiliar technology.

Overall I think there was a huge weight off of our shoulders today in class now that our senior papers are finalized. With the stress everyone was experiencing with two major project due at very close times, there was a lot of built up tension for the past couple of weeks. Now that mostly everyone has handed in their projects, we can fully enjoy the rest of the week and really absorb the films without the impending due date of our senior paper looming over our heads.

Mr. Rivers also explained that the rest of the marking period would be relatively smooth sailing considering the previous circumstances. Even though he may not be in class tomorrow, Mr. Rivers mentioned that he may be able to come back for a little and continue playing our reviews. With park schedules approaching, it’s important that we get as many films in this week as possible.

Overall I think that, despite the circumstances of having two of our most important projects due at the same time and not being able to focus 100% on both simultaneously, the reviews still came out well.

Today we continued watching critical reviews starting with Lauren's and ending with Mike Rossiter's. At the beginning of class Mr. Rivers has told us that he was going to be absent tomorrow and that our Best nominations will get pushed back until Tuesday and we will try and finish watching all of the critical reviews by Monday. Image result for academy awards
Lauren's critical review was about Breaking Bad and how Walter White progresses throughout the seasons. She used evidence from the beginning of breaking bad, the middle, and the end. Much of her review was made up of pictures and some film, but the way she analyzed it you didn't really need a lot of clips.
The Great Gastby was Analyzed by Anne. This review was so good, she took her time and went through the whole movie and explained the major significances between Jay and Daisy's relationship, from their relationship, to the green light across the lake, to them individually.
Next was Sarah R's, Another 80s Classic, analyzing Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Although it is almost 40 years old, it is a classic movie that she analyzed very well adding humor to make her audience laugh.
Brooke's review of Finding Nemo, focusing on the age range the movie was made for was very good. Although it was her voice over almost the whole time, the clips she chose were very good and supported her claim that it was made for children, but taught parents a lesson also.
Lastly was Mike's banalization of Draft Day. This critical review was a little confusing in the beginning but, once her started if made more sense.
Don't forget if you missed a day you must watch them on your own.

Kirk Brown Blog Film Festival day 3

Today we continued our film review by watching the film reviews of Jake, Sarah H, Nina, Chris, and Mike Loh. Before we watched the last minute of Jake’s review, due to the bell ringing the middle of it, we discussed the questions we had on basically formatting of the senior papers before handing them in tonight a 11:59. Mr. Rivers also explained to me that if the paper was going to exceed 7 pages that in was necessary for the writing to be needed. After i got home i looked at my paper and noticed i was unnecessarily repeating myself so that shortened my paper(in a good way) it made it more specific and direct. As for film reviews they were all great However Sarah H, Nina, And Chris all reviewed shows and movies i haven't watched so i thought that would make it impossible to follow. I was completely mistaken they all explained it well and provide the background information necessary for understanding the review. Even mike and Jake they did well evaluating as well as using evidence to support the theme they were analyzing. I really enjoyed mike's review he had a good blend of humor along with doing everything a good film review should do. Everyone is doing well and the film festival is enjoyable to watch.

This is mike’s video- https://www.wevideo.com/view/878544163

Enjoy :)

Amanda Scully 3/21

Today in class we resumed watching the critical reviews. We started with Kirk's and worked through until Michael Loh's. As a reminder we have to watch the critical review and then have a minute to give a tweet about it. Something you liked or they could improve on. Also as we work through the critical reviews, you need to vote for the top 5 best reviews. If you are absent for a day or miss a critical review, you are to watch them on your own time.
Kirk's critical review was about Loki in the movie Thor. Although sound was a minor issue all of the clips that were used help support is claim and get across the point of every movie with a protagonist has a antagonist, and what traits do they have, what makes them a good antagonist.
Zach's critical review was about the movie Arrow focusing on Oliver Queen's character and how he was trying to be good and kill all of the criminals, but by doing that he was making himself a criminal for killing all of them. Zach's critical review in my point of view was very good, everything was spaced out and it didn't seem like he was rushing through. Adding transitions between clips would have been nice.
We next went onto Michaela's Buffy the Silent Slayer. Her critical review analyzed Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Michaela gave a lot of background on the show itself witch helps viewers get a feel of what it is about and how it came about. Her critical review itself showed thing throughout the whole episode from the characters to the music. Very well done.
Next up was Ben's, Hannibal Lecter: The Enigmatic Cannibal. The analysis of the film was very good and showed parts that really told what the movie was about, although it was a little gross at some point, not my cup of tea. Hearing the actual film could have helped prove his claim even more than just hearing this voice over.
We started watching Jake's but we got cut off by the bell and will finish tomorrow at the beginning of class.

DON'T FORGET YOUR SENIOR PAPER IS DUE TONIGHT AT 11:59 PM ON TURNITIN.COM AND GOOGLECLASSROOM!!!!

Blog
IWBAT: none today.
Today in class we had the entire to work on our essay. In the very beginning we discussed how the Best best draft of all time will be due on the upcoming Monday. We then got to have the rest of the class to revise and work on our essays. Mr. R and Ms. D were available to assist us the entire period. A lot of progress was made today.

Michaela Kayal 3/17/17

On this St. Patrick's day in class, we first learned about how to craft a strong body paragraph and integrate quotes. The paragraph we briefly examined with our group had many mistakes. There was no quote integration, no citation, and the analysis was garbage. The analysis did not extract evidence from the quote nor connect it to the overall theme of the paragraph. We learned that it is essential to integrate the quotes as part of the sentence. Mr. Rivers informed us that a person should never begin a sentence with a quote, and it should always be introduced. The example we examined did not introduce the quote, but then Mr. Rivers showed us an edited version: "Many point to the enchanting characters and high quality Disney storytelling, which create a world,"so vivid and so natural that you almost take for granted [the characters] appear to be mechanical objects clicking and whirling with human characters" (Scott). This example correctly integrated the quote while giving specific context. The reason we looked over these editing techniques was to benefit out drafting process. Now that most of us have a draft we need to edit, adjust,  and manipulate to get maximum integration. We learned to improve style to be not just accurate but sophisticated. For the rest of the class people either worked on the finishing touches of their critical reviews or their senior paper drafts. Since the critical review is due Monday this is the last class day to work on it. So, overall it was a very classic class day.

Bridget van Voorst 3/16/17

Today in class Mr. Rivers started out by greeting us as he does every morning. As we all settled into our seats we placed our attention to the board for Mr. Rivers notes about finalizing out two projects due very soon. He went in depth as to how we should turn the senior paper document in and how we should turn in the WeVideo. These instruction can be found on the classroom page.

After the initial explanation was over we continued on our own independent work. Mr. Rivers continued to walk around the room and answer the questions we had about WeVideo and our senior papers. He tried to get to everyone with questions and from my understanding he did. I asked about how to edit a certain part of my video and Mr. Rivers was very prompt with his answer.

Mostly everyone worked the whole time. I believe the closer we get to the deadlines for these project the more class time they utilize to finish up the final parts of their project. Class has been productive lately despite the many obstacles such as the snow days and having no internet. Overall today was a very useful day and people got to work.

3-16-17 Michael Mancuso

Today, March 16, 2017, was the first day back from a pleasant little mid-week break. Many students returned refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the week, although a few were exhausted from shoveling tons of snow. Some of the class worked on their WeVideo projects while others worked on senior papers, which has been a quite routine task over the past couple weeks. As it turns out, a lot of our classmates used the break to get ahead on their work and began revising, editing, and polishing up some of the biggest assignments of senior year.

In regards to WeVideo, today, we briefly discussed some important information. While WeVideo does automatically save your work, it can be relatively periodical. You can check the last time your progress was saved by looking towards the bottom left corner of your screen. If it has been a couple minutes since the last update, make sure you manually save by scrolling over the "last saved" dictation or enter the drop down menu and select "save." Also, you may find trouble submitting your finalized video on YouTube so stay tuned for more direction from Mr. Rivers on submitting your video. Other than that today was a relatively routine day as we continued to work diligently on our brilliantly crafted video critical reviews and senior paper essays.

P.S. as a friendly reminder, WeVideo critical review videos are due by the end of the day this Sunday, March 19.

BethAnn Putnam 3/13/17

Today in class the teacher was talking about how we should start our opening and closing paragraphs. The class also took a look at one part from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie and analyzed it in groups. The teacher asked the class, What does this scene introduce? How? after watching the clip. The class discussed it in groups and then shared what each group had found. The class concluded that the scene is introducing a Pirate looking guy who  salutes the hanged pirates. He also wears different time period clothing that make him look like a pirate. Rides up to shore in a pirate boat and the movie title help the reader see that this charter is a Pirate. This pirate that is coming into port, is coming into an area, where the people don't like pirates. The class also picked up on the attitude towards dangers that the pirate rides into. The tone is also serious action and comical. Next the teacher went to explain about the intro and conclusion paragraph for your senior paper. For the introduction, the writing should be relevant context (contains: Intention/background information surrounding your writing), Relevant content (contains: the evidence that shapes your writing), Relevant Characters (contains: the people/groups of your writing), and the essay should fit your writing. When opening the paragraph you can't have the definition, off-topic quote, rhetorical question, impossibly broad focus and sweeping generalization. To start off the introduction, consider the function, do your actual introducing, artist + text + active verb or look to the experts... what do your research writers do? For the conclusion - the place where one concludes - verbs*, backwards and forwards for context, content, and characters (what does the analysis prove about__? How has your text evolved from the  intro? What are the results of the argument? What will happen if __? (+?-?) ) Also in the conclusion we are not aloud to us... in conclusion, to conclude, in summary, at the end of the day, when all's said and done, when the smoke clears, and obviously.

Michael Loh 3/13/17

Today was a very different day than what we have gotten ourselves accustomed to in the recent weeks. Rather than working on our senior papers and video reviews, we had a lesson on how to write intros and conclusions. It's not the typical lesson that you would expect from an English teacher though. We watched a short clip from Pirates of the Carribean and talked about how it introduced Jack Sparrow. We talked about how it introduced things like character and setting. We also Neo's ending statement from the matrix. We looked at how it concluded the Matrix and specifically how it reffered back to previous events and how it looked towards the (garbage) future (of the Matrix 2 and 3). When shifting towards talking about the future, it changed tense from present to future. The purpose of addressing what comes next answers the question of "so what?" and "why is any of this important?". If you can answer those questions, then your conclusion is probably fairly decent. The due dates for these projects are coming up and I hope that you guys have all been working on your stuff (because you done goofed if haven't). It's a lot of work and it's definitely worth getting a little done every night. In terms of where I'm at, I have my outline in draft format, and I'm just adding in stuff to make it better. For my video review, I have my script written and I just need to record it and put in clips. For anyone that needs help getting their stuff done, here...
(>*.*)> take my energy :)

I think that the video review is a super fun project and I'm enjoying making it. It reminds me of the documentary project I worked on in Video 2. It's slightly different though. For one, this project is a lot heavier on the research and analysis part, whereas the project in video was more about the editing aspect. I enjoy it though. It's fun researching stuff about shows I like and talking about them.

Joe Schwab 3/9/17

Today in class started with everyone coming it class, getting settled, and signing into our computers like every other day. Then when Mr. Rivers was done greeting everyone he began to speak to the class about what is going on in class. He first talked about the previous day of class and how he is almost done with conferences for our senior papers. After that he said how he going to be meeting people all period for their conferences to discuss their outlines. Mr. Rivers then moved on to talking about the opportunity he gave us to fix our senior paper outlines. The opportunity was to fix all the to be verbs like is, are, am, was, and were. We were given till the 8th ath 11:59 PM to take out all of these and to resubmit it to get 60% of the credit back. He also discussed that words like they’re, and it’s are considered to be verbs too because they are just two words put together with one already a to be verb. Mr. Rivers then moved on to talking about how removing all the to be verbs in the outline now will ultimately strengthen the final product of an essay. Then the class split off and everyone started working on what they had to do. During this time I was working on my critical review gathering clips or wevideo and thinking about things to talk about. Then we packed up and the bell rang

After a quick announcement about the To- Be words in the senior papers Mr. Rivers was off to conference with another group of students. Mr. Rivers has been conferencing with students about their senior papers to see how things are going and how each student could improve their senior papers. Mr. Rivers gives out a lot of helpful feed back when you discuss about the paper that the student might have missed when writing their paper. His philosophy is very simple. Mr. Rivers states that writing gets stronger through revision and he is definitely right about that. While the class was working hard on either their senior paper or WeVideo project I was writing my script for my WeVideo project. My project features the film Draft Day and how this film is an accurate display of the NFL draft. The NFL draft isn't always as smooth as a normal person would think. There is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes that the average person doesn't know about. Draft Day shows the struggles the Front Office of an NFL team has during the time of the draft. The people in the front office spend months researching about who to pick and what player is the best fit for the team. The film also portrays how teams make unexpected trades and other moves which makes the draft such a highly anticipated thing every year for both players and fans.

Jack Simon 3/8/16

Today in class, March 8, 2017 we had the usual day we have been having for the past week. Mr. Rivers greeted everyone at the door as they would walk into the classroom. Once we got into the classroom, we all got out laptops, sat down and logged in. Mr. Rivers said he did not want to talk that much today, because he has been talking too much in the beginning of class and taking away time from working. He briefly explained that today and tomorrow were the last two days he was going to review senior research paper outlines with us. There were about 5-8 more people he had to review with, and that takes about two more periods. Also, he brought up two more quick things which were, on Friday he was going to explain how to write introduction and closing paragraphs to our senior papers. The second thing, he just wanted to remind us that the "to be" assignment for our senior papers were due tonight at 11:59 p.m.
For the "to be" verbs we just add to write the original sentence that had the "to be" verb in it. Then under that you had to re - write the new sentence fixing the "to be" verb.
After, each student went to work on either their critical review or senior paper. I worked on my senior paper because I think once I get the rough draft of the senior paper out of the way it will be easier to work on the critical review.

3/7/14 Jack Simon

Today in class unlike yesterday we were able to work on either our senior papers or critical reviews. The wifi was not working yesterday so we talked about what happened in film class in the past and what would happen in the future. Mr. Rivers continued to meet with students and went over their outlines today. I met with him and we both reviewed my outline. When we were reviewing my outline I took notes down on my computer to make sure I remembered what he said. Mr. Rivers went over what we should change, but also told us what we did good. Also, as a class we went over "to be" verbs and how we can't have any "to be" verbs in our topic sentences. For each "to be" verb used in our senior paper we got -5 points taken off our grade. However, if we had any "to be" verbs our senior papers then we could change the sentence and get 3 out of the 5 points back. And you would have to change it by 11:59 Wednesday night.
If you were not working on your senior paper then you had to work on your critical review. For the critical review you have to choose a movie that you would like to critically review. You could talk about how bad the movie was or good it is.
I chose to work on my senior paper first because I think the critical review will be harder to do, so I wanted to get the senior paper out of the way.

3.6.17 - Kada Cernek

Today in class, we had a different routine than usual. Last night, there was a leak in the school causing there to be no wifi for the english department today. Because of this, we couldn't work on our senior papers or movie reviews as we have been. Therefore, we had a class discussion on film classes and what they were like in the past and how we predict they will be in the future. My group decided to analyze what a film class would be like in 1987 (30 years ago). We decided that they would be taking notes on loose leaf paper in a small classroom with an older teacher. We also said there would be one projector that projected the movie onto a small screen that pulled down over the chalkboard. After the movie, the class would probably have a group discussion and maybe do a short assignment on the film. Then we hypothesized a film class in 2047 (30 years in the future). My group said that each student would have a personal holographic projector where they would watch the movie individually and then be assessed on what they watched. Unfortunately, class discussions would be out of date as would taking notes. Our group had a negative feeling on the future of film classes as we were upset with the decline of class discussions and analyzing as a group. Hopefully tomorrow we will have wifi again and will be able to return to our usual work.

BethAnn Putnam 3/6/17

Today in class was different then the past other days. Last week the class has been working on either our senior paper: which is due 3/21/17 or our critical review video: which is due 3/19/17. Today the class could not work on either assents because the internet was down. So Mr. Rivers gave each group a sheet of paper. He started talking about what Film Classes were like back in the day. Each group picked a different time period to do. My group picked 2000. Then each group came up with what Film class was like during that time period. My group came up with that we had the big TV that looked like a box on the cart. Also that there were VCR'S back then. And if you wanted to watch a movie you had to go to the library and rent one from them. Also that if you wanted to record something, you did it on a tape recorder. Phones back then couldn't record. My group also came up with, while watching the movie, the teacher would give you a sheet of paper that you would fill out. Also no classroom a a class set of computer, so the whole class would have to go down to the computers that were desk top and work off of those. Other groups came up with different time periods of 1987, 1950, 1990. Then the teacher had each group share what they came up with. After that, the teacher had all the groups think of what the Film class would be like in the future. A lot of the groups agreed that there was going to be computers that were using virtual reality. Also that we would end up taking mental notes instead of them on the computer. Also the way we watch things will change and incorporate a lot of new technology.

3/1/17 Lauren Mitchell

On March 3rd, Mr. Rivers allowed the class to work on either their visual critical reviews or their senior papers.  Personally, I decided to work on my critical review.  Both my senior paper and review are on the series "Breaking Bad".  I am going to be discussing how the main character, Walter White, evolves from an innocent criminal to an evil one.  I like doing the same show for both projects, as I am able to elaborate more within the essay but I can visually show everything in the review.  Today in class, I started by finding all of the videos I will be using.  Mr. Rivers told me that pictures are also acceptable to include in the review.  After looking through the videos I had, I decided it was time to switch gears and work on my senior paper.  Mr. Rivers was nice enough to give people points back if they used any "to be" verbs in their topic sentences and thesis statements.  He discussed how we could alter those sentences and revise the "to be" word and gain the points back.  This is what I did.  Mr. Rivers helped me fix them, as well as other students in the class.  For the remainder of the period everyone continued to work on their projects and conferences took place.  I got a lot done this period and it was a very productive day for all of us.

Chris Link 3/2

Today the second of March in the year two-thousand-seventeen, at 3rd period we walked into Mr. Rivers' Film as Literature class. We all started off by grabbing our laptops and logging into our accounts as usual. We noticed that there was a sub today who promptly began to address the class once we had all logged in and taken our seats. He told us that we would be continuing the work on our senior papers and critical reviews. It was at this point that I realized that I had to write a blog post, so I opened up my notes page and wrote down the exact details of the aforementioned events. I began to start work on the introduction to my senior paper. To give you more context about the layout of my introduction, I will present my current thesis statement, "Federal and state legislatures need to pass more in depth legislation and expand the use of AOT, to alleviate the current mental health crisis that plagues the United States at the present, even if it means more more financial stress on state budgets, and a reduction in civil liberties for a select group". As one can clearly see I am advocating for mental health care to be more available t the peple who need it. My ideas on how to introduce this essay written as they are in my notes, read as follows, "I am planning on introducing this essay by referencing a worst case scenario event that could have been prevented with the introduction of pro mental health care legislation. This will be accompanied by a general outlook on the state of mental health care programs in the US". A typical introduction paragraph layout tailored for my topic. The res of the class went almost exactly as the past three days have went. The bell then rang and the class began to file out.

If you were absent today, no worries, so was Mr. Rivers.. We missed you! Due to his absence, today's class and assignment was directed towards a more independent route. This was today's actual assignment: continue working on either your senior paper or your film review essay. manage your time, and use the time you have in class to your advantage. the due date for both assignments is inching up on us. make sure to stay on top of your work and continue to make progress. Also a tip for the next few weeks is to not distract other around you. allow everyone to get as much work done as they can.

Today in class although there is a sub, most people managed to work efficiently and get a good amount of work done. as you start to write your body paragraphs do not be afraid to ask a classmate to revise your work for you. The more revision, the better.

Well there is not much more to say do to the absence of Mr. rivers. it was a very quiet class because everyone was hard at work. overall try to keep up with the two assignments and do not save anything to do last minuet. keep working hard and have a great day!

Nina Levatino 3/1/17

Today, Mr. Rivers kept the introduction to class brief. He explained that he talks too much and wants us to get as much work done as possible. I decided to work on my senior paper. I opened my outline and saw that Mr. Rivers was looking at it, too. At this point, I decided I would wait until he reviews it and gives me feedback. He conferenced with Jake, Lauren, Jackie, Annie, and a few other students. I continued working on my visual critical review. I am reviewing the most iconic episode of all time, Winds of Winter from the Game of Thrones series. After I got bored of this, I went back to my senior paper. I finished my introduction paragraph and started my first paragraph. In my introduction, I discussed how film directors aim to have the audience's emotions and opinions mirror those of the mood of the movie. This is why when we watch a scary movie, we sprint to our car from the theatre. Or after watching a documentary, we set a goal to save the world that only lasts a night. I talked about how we put ourselves into the characters reality and create such a personal connection to the characters that we trust everything they tell us. With this trust, we believe everything directors and filmmakers depict mental illness. It's why when we watch Silence of the Lambs, we think all mentally ill people are canabals and murders. Now seeing that written on paper, it seems absurd. But it's a mind game that filmmakers know how to win. Silver Linings Playbook is a movie we can trust. It is a film on the life of a bipolar patient thats actually accurate.
