The first thing we did in class today was set up
our blog schedule for the 3rd marking period. We had the opportunity to sign up
for the days we wanted as opposed to just going alphabetically. As someone
whose name is towards the end of the alphabet, I prefer this way of scheduling
because it gives me the opportunity to blog on days earlier in the marking
period. In the past, I had blogged late in the marking period which often led
to me forgetting I had to blog at all. Then we briefly went over thesis statements
and topic sentences before diving back into work on our senior paper. Mr Rivers
also showed us a video on topic sentences to use as a guide while working on
our outline and draft. At this stage pretty much everyone seems to be working
on their outline. Some people are closer to drafting than others though. I am
just starting to set up my outline. I am doing this by organizing my research
using the tags and then narrowing them down into body paragraphs. From there I
will draft topic sentences. Finally, I will write my thesis. Essentially, I
plan on working backwards. Each student is structuring their outline in a way
that makes sense to them so no two outlines have the exact same format. The
outline for our senior paper is due February 17th.
