Today in class, we had a different routine than usual. Last night, there was a leak in the school causing there to be no wifi for the english department today. Because of this, we couldn't work on our senior papers or movie reviews as we have been. Therefore, we had a class discussion on film classes and what they were like in the past and how we predict they will be in the future. My group decided to analyze what a film class would be like in 1987 (30 years ago). We decided that they would be taking notes on loose leaf paper in a small classroom with an older teacher. We also said there would be one projector that projected the movie onto a small screen that pulled down over the chalkboard. After the movie, the class would probably have a group discussion and maybe do a short assignment on the film. Then we hypothesized a film class in 2047 (30 years in the future). My group said that each student would have a personal holographic projector where they would watch the movie individually and then be assessed on what they watched. Unfortunately, class discussions would be out of date as would taking notes. Our group had a negative feeling on the future of film classes as we were upset with the decline of class discussions and analyzing as a group. Hopefully tomorrow we will have wifi again and will be able to return to our usual work.
